2K Sports just revealed their player ratings for NBA 2K22 and the basketball world has gone into a spiral. As we don't have any NBA action for another two months or so, fans and the players themselves are reacting to these ratings and stirring up debates online. LeBron James responded 'SLAM Gaming' on Twitter when Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant's ratings were revealed and suggested that they should be 99.

The response from Ronnie 2K (repping the company) is usually along the lines of “play well and you can raise your rating during the season.”

It seems 2K couldn’t quite decide, so four players are tied with a 96 overall rating, the highest at launch. Those four players are:

    LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers)
    Kevin Durant (Brooklyn Nets)
    Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks)
    Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors)

Don't expect to see many, if any, players rated as high as 99 like Madden has typically done with its athletes. The two highest rated players on "NBA 2K21" are LeBron James and Curry, who both are rated at 97.

LeBron James is still listed atop the player rankings even though the title of him being the NBA’s best player is up for debate — especially after this season and the emergence of several young superstars. Kevin Durant, who presented his case to be a 99 overall earlier, is on par with James, which is probably accurate. Giannis Antetokounmpo probably has the strongest argument that he should be the highest rated player in NBA 2K22 simply due to the fact that he carried the Bucks to a championship without the need to form a super team.
